Why would you want to become a babysitter? - "A day in the life of a babysitter" By Sophia

On my chosen days to work I am always listening out to the sound of my phone receiving a message. I get excited when a message comes in. I check it and there it is from Rockabye Babysitters asking if I can work eg: tonight/tomorrow? I get excited and text back “yes please”.
They say yes and we’ll send you the email through. Once receiving the email a million thoughts go through my head.
What games can I play with the children?
What can I do to make the children happy, and enjoy my company?
What toys can I put in my goodie bag?
Should I take a book, jigsaw, cuddly toys, stickers etc?

Once I am all organized I just do a quick check through my babysitting file. I have my printed email on my clipboard and i have extra copies of the Babysitter release form and family questionnaire etc, just incase the family don't have these already printed out. I arrive at the babysitting job with a good 15 mins spare. I greet the parents at the front door with “Hi I am Sophia the babysitter from Rockabye Babysitters how are you?” I then approach the children and say “Hi you must be ….. I am pleased to meet you and we are going to have fun tonight. Most of my babysitting jobs go for a longer time as the parents are happy with me looking after their children and I don’t mind at all staying longer. Once parents come back home I brief them on what we got up to during the night. We have a chat and I go home happy knowing that I helped a family out. I eagerly await my next job as I love children and I love babysitting!

The Babysitters Role

A babysitter is responsible for the care of children and will provide a safe and stimulating environment while adhering to the parent’s requests regarding discipline, nutrition, activities and safety. They are responsible for the household as it relates directly to the care of the children but are often willing to do unrelated light household duties and family meal preparation.

The salary range for an occasional Babysitter is $10 to $15 per hour. The salary range for an overnight babysitter is $14 to $16 per hour. The salary is dependent upon the Babysitters experience and education and the many Rockabye job variations. Many of our Babysitters are Early Childhood Educators or Elementary School teachers. These applicants have extensive knowledge of child development and have chosen to work with children as a career.
